Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs or activities operated by recipients of federal financial assistance (such as the University of New Hampshire (UNH)). Title IX applies to any form of gender-based different treatment, sexual harassment, sexual assault, unwanted sexual contact, sexual misconduct, domestic violence, relationship abuse, dating violence, and stalking. Title IX's prohibitions apply to all students, faculty, and staff.
