New Hampshire legislators and the governor have approved HB 602 which requires an additional mandatory component of sentencing for those convicted of DWI. In practice and in our in person experience, judges have not been ordering the course if the offense occurred prior to 2026. The law requires those convicted of DWI to observe a 3.5 hour online program that includes testimonials from DWI victims and offenders. New Hampshire already has one of the most rigorous DWI course requirements for licensure reinstatement in the country. This is referred to as Impaired Driver Care Management Program (IDCMP) which requires a screening, possible future counseling to be determined by the program, and a 20 hour Impaired Driver Education Program (IDEP). All of these requirements and more are necessary to reinstate one's license if convicted of DWI.
